The great artists of the past so as the most recent references to Russian Constructivism and to the Vanguards of the early ‘900, are part of the artistic heritage he draws in his work – he continuously

In conjunction with The Road to Contemporary Art of Rome, Fondazione Volume! presents a special project by Valery Koshlyakov, one of the main representative sculptors of Russian Contemporary Art.
On this occasion he creates an installatory and architectural path based on the well-balanced relation among antiquity, modernity and imagination.
The great artists of the past so as the most recent references to Russian Constructivism and to the Vanguards of the early ‘900, are part of the artistic heritage he draws in his work – he continuously
plays with the memory, the undertaking of his academic education and an utopian thrust. The uncommon use of poor materials- scotch tape, cardboard, polystyrene and bitumen, in contrast with the original magnificence of the architectures he makes reference to, gives to his research a vague iconoclastic flavour and the frailty of a just resurfaced memory.
Estranging buildings, which, joining the humility of the compository solutions with the daring strain to historical artistic references, face with two issues, which are familiar to the past artistic, architectural
and pictorial tradition: the fragment as memory and scar on which a faraway and integral culture’s events are written on, and the sublime, the aesthetical knot, which celebrates the imagination value and the
longing for the original work of art, which is thrown toward the future. By this point of view, the space of Volume! becomes the place where it’s possible to build a not-space, an architecture that, with its
modern look, identifies the memory as the greatest creative and compository freedom, the basis of contemporary time.
The exhibition, curated by Claudia Gioia, wil be accompanied by a bilingual catalogue, in English and Italian, with texts by Viktor Misiano, Mikhail Dmitreiv , Franco Purini and the artist himself.
On the occasion of Valery Koshlyakov exhibition in via San Francesco di Sales 86/88, Fondazione Volume! opens a new exhibitive space inside its offices in via Santa Maria dell'Anima 15.
Coherently with Foundation's identity, the new window is linked to the other historical space and it aims to offer to the artist a further frame for his work able to show its different perspectives
