The 17th of October Fondazione Volume! opens the first evening of the series One Night Stand, a performative programme that will involve the actions of internationally renowned performers.
The event opens with performances by Claudie Gagnon (Québec) and Johan Lorbeer (Berlin).

Claudie Gagnon’s Le renard et la dent consists of two tableaux vivants created as free representations of The Cure of Folly by Hieronymus Bosch, and of the Otto Dix painting To Beauty. Every day objects, the presence of actors and the absence of words are the simple elements she uses to create her magic. A blend of 18th Century theatre and cabaret of the 50’s, Claudie’s double staging, just as in burlesque theatre, will be accompanied by Frederic Lebrasseur’s live music.

Tarzan / Standing Leg is the title of the Johan Lorbeer’s performative action. It suggests a disorienting and unexpected use of space. Standing still in apparently natural positions, the artist actually challenges the common laws of gravity. Lorbeer transfers body and space in a surreal context transforming himself into a classical sculpture and disrupting the spectator’s sense of observation. With his Still-Life performances, Lorbeer goes beyond the usual categories of performance. It verges on “human sculpture”, neutralizing the action through duration.

La Fondazione Volume!, il 17 Ottobre, inaugura il primo appuntamento del programma performativo One Night Stand, un nuovo progetto che nel corso dell’anno coinvolgerà, presso i propri spazi, performers di fama internazionale.
La manifestazione, il cui titolo rimanda alla velocità di un amore consumato nel breve arco di una notte riferendosi così alla durata delle azioni artistiche, si apre con Johan Lorbeer (Berlino) e Claudie Gagnon (Quebec).


Le renard et la dent di Claudie Gagnon comprende due tableaux vivants realizzati come libere rappresentazioni de La cura della follia di Hieronymus Bosch, e del dipinto di Otto Dix To Beauty. Oggetti di fattura artigianale, la partecipazione di figuranti e l’assenza di parola sono i semplici elementi con cui l’artista costruisce le sue performances, amplificandone il valore immaginifico e fantastico. A metà via tra le rappresentazioni teatrali del XVIII secolo e il cabaret degli anni ’50, le due azioni di Claudie ricordano gli sketches del teatro burlesco, e come al tempo del cinema muto l’azione sarà ritmata in diretta dal musicista Frederic Lebrasseur.

Tarzan / Standing Leg è il titolo dell’azione performativa di Johan Lorbeer, una disorientante e inaspettata relazione tra spazio ed essere umano che sfida le comuni leggi di gravità rimanendo saldo in posizioni apparentemente naturali. Lorbeer trasferisce corpo e spazio in un contesto surreale, trasformandosi in scultura e mettendo in discussione le più consuete modalità di osservazione dello spettatore. Con le sue Still-Life-Performances Lorbeer supera le categorie classiche della performance, che sconfinando nella “scultura umana” neutralizza l’azione con la durata della rappresentazione.
