Eλλάς is the new project by Giosi Frassino for Tricromia gallery that launches a call for Greek illustrators and cartoonists, with the intent to explore the Greek crisis from an economic, social and political point of view. The Greek case has become exemplary for all European countries in the noose of debt; therefore, looking at Greece, many other countries have changed their perspective and have questioned the feasibility of Eutopia, the European dream.

Through the eyes of six authors - Michael Kountouris, Petros Christoulias, Soloup, Thanassis Dimou, Thanassis Petrou, Giorgos Botsos - Tricromia wants to draw the idea of crisis with pencils and colours pushed by the wind of free thought and will; believing that through the Greece we can understand the future of every nation.

It involves economic, identity, social and political aspects. At the same time with different shapes. It’s strangling the culture, leading the public opinion and working in order of the establishment. We're talking about the crisis that applies censorship in the name of common sense and shut the freedom of speech in a politically correct cartoon. We know, anyway, pencils and colors are stronger than censorship: and the tribute is to Charlie Hebdo, symbol, like Greece, of freedom and courage.

In collaboration with Catherine Fragou, from the Greek Iris Literary Agency, Tricromia gallery gives voice to some of the most famous Greek illustrators and caricaturist, with the aim of creating a place for cultural social and political reflection.

ελλάς è il nuovo progetto di Giosi Frassino per la galleria Tricromia che lancia una call ad illustratori, vignettisti e fumettisti greci per parlare della crisi ellenica dal punto di vista economico, sociale e politico. Il caso greco è diventato esemplare per tutti i paesi europei al cappio del debito pubblico, ed è guardando alla Grecia che molti hanno cambiato prospettiva e si interrogano sull’opportunità e la fattibilità di Eutopia, il sogno europeo.
Attraverso gli occhi di sei autori - Michael Kountouris, Petros Christoulias, Soloup, Thanassis Dimou, Thanassis Petrou, Giorgos Botsos - Tricromia disegnerà un’idea di crisi con matite e colori sospinti dal vento del pensiero libero; nella convinzione che attraverso la lente di ingrandimento della Grecia si possa capire il futuro di ogni nazione.
Non è solo una questione economica: la crisi attraversa anche le idee, i valori, l’identità; la crisi strangola la cultura e guida l’opinione pubblica verso un ordine precostituito. La stessa crisi che censura in nome del buon senso, e rinchiude la libertà di parola in una vignetta politically correct. Da quella crisi, le matite e i colori sfuggono e trovano nuova vita: da qui il tributo a Charlie Hebdo, diventato, come la Grecia, simbolo di libertà e coraggio.
In collaborazione con Catherine Fragou, corrispondente della Iris Literary Agency greca, la galleria d’arte Tricromia dà voce ad alcuni dei più attuali e importanti illustratori greci, realizzando una mostra che ambisce a essere anche un luogo di confronto politico e sociale.
