Fondazione Volume! presents, in the space of its gallery, the first monography dedicated to the Portuguese artist Rui Chafes, curated by Doris van Drahten and edited by Charta. The artist, the curator of the monography and Simona Cresci (who has curated the exhibition the artist made in January 2007 for the space of the Foundation) will take part to the presentation.
Fondazione Volume! presents, in the space of its gallery, the first monography dedicated to the Portuguese artist Rui Chafes, curated by Doris van Drahten and edited by Charta. The book shows the poetics and the communicative capacity of the artist’s drawings and sculpture to transform the material into un-material through elaborating and transforming iron into lines and forms apparently without gravity. The artist, the curator of the monography and Simona Cresci (who has curated the exhibition the artist made in January 2007 for the space of the Foundation) will take part to the presentation.

La Fondazione Volume! presenta presso i suoi spazi la prima monografia dedicata all’opera dell’artista portoghese Rui Chafes, curata da Doris von Drathen ed edita da Charta. Saranno presenti l’artista, la curatrice del libro e Simona Cresci, curatrice della mostra di Rui Chafes “Onde estou?”, svoltasi negli spazi della Fondazione Volume! a gennaio dello scorso anno.

Il libro illustra la poetica e la capacità comunicativa del disegno e della scultura dell’artista, in grado di trasformare la materia in immaterialità attraverso le elaborazioni e trasformazioni del ferro in linee e forme apparentemente senza gravità.
