The Long J's first album "Raggio Katarana" was released in December 2011 by Edwood Records and Edizioni De Dieux. The ecstatic heirs of the great Catania Indie scene, with Adolfo Macrì on guitar and main vocals and Marco Riccioli on drums and backing vocals. This is the first album for this formation although neither one of the members is new to the whole drill, one coming from 100% and the other from Spriggan. The meeting of the two creates an eruption of all the good energy absorbed throughout the years of fervid and lively inner-city confrontation that made Catania one of the most fruitful and established cities on the Italian Indie scene. From these ashes rise all of the milestones that marked the duo's musical journey, Garage and Post Rock/Noise revised in a splurt of modern day good old Punk, the rebellious expression of suburbs that keep on dreaming and suffering, kept alive by the constant pursuit of laughter and joy. This authentic album that knows no borders was recorded by Sacha Tilotta (Three Second Kiss, Theramin) and blessed by Bob Weston's (Shellac) mastering. It delivers all of the duo's skill, with strong and steady rhythms and FugazUzedAlbinian distortions that build the only possible frame for a rarely changing voice, whether it's fighting the mic-imposed shyness or bellowing while slinging a 2 kilo octopus at 4 a.m. in Palermo market after one of many gigs. The band will be touring Italy in April, Summer and October 2012, bringing bags of volcanic ashes as a one of a kind souvenir. Edizioni De Dieux is part of Comitato Addiopizzo a group of commercial activities that stand up and speak out loud against extortion and organized crime, so all of its books and records carry the “pizzofree” logo on their covers.

Nel dicembre 2011 esce per Edwood Records ed Edizioni De Dieux “Raggio Katarana”, il primo album di The Long J, distribuito in Italia da Audioglobe. Felice erede della migliore scena indie catanese il duo The Long J, Adolfo Macrì (guitar-vox) e Marco Riccioli (drums –vox), (già rispettivamente nei 100% e Spriggan), erutta letteralmente tutta la sana energia fagocitata in anni di fervido e vissuto confronto cittadino che ha fatto e continua a fare di Catania una delle città laboratorio più feconde e significative per la scena indie italiana. In questo freddo inverno italiano ricco di scioperi, proteste e navi enormi che affondano non poteva esserci esordio più necessario, vivo e rumoroso di questo delle nostre schegge impazzite, The Long J. E tra le ceneri ritroviamo tutte le pietre miliari d’oltre oceano, il garage, il noise/post-rock rielaborato in una spruzzata di sano e ribelle punk attualissimo, autentico di sobborghi di città di periferia che sognano ancora, che soffrono, che vivono, che vogliono ridere. Un disco senza frontiere, autentico. Registrato da Sasha Tilotta (Three Second Kiss, Theramin) e benedetto dal mastering di Bob Weston (basso/chitarra Shellac), ci restituisce tutta la sapienza del duo che con distorsioni fugazuzedalbiniane e ritmi sostenutissimi costruisce l’unica cornice possibile per una voce che non cambia molto se lotta con la timidezza imposta da un microfono o se urleggia durante il lancio in aria di un polipo di 2 chili alle 4 di mattina al mercato di Palermo dopo l’ennesimo concerto…provare per credere. La band sarà in tour in Italia in aprile, nell’estate a qualche festivalazzo scassato e nell'ottobre 2012 con tanto di sacchetti di cenere lavica al seguito… stay tuned!
