Dear Friends,
the staff of SICILIA QUEER FILMFEST is glad to announce that registrations terms have been postponed in order to offer you more chances to participate in QUEERSHORT, the International Shortfilm Competition hosted by the first edition of our Festival, which will be held in Palermo, June 20 to 26, 2011.

The NEW registration deadline is set for April 26, 2011. Fill out the online form you'll find on our website www.siciliaqueerfilmfest.it in the dedicated area. Please, fulfill all the necessary registration procedures, and send a dvd copy of your shortfilm at the postal address you'll find on the website. Do not forget to print out, sign and send along with the dvd the registration form entirely completed.

The festival consists of one single competitive section, reserved to shortfilms and judged by an international jury, and of many LGBT-themed features and documentary films screenings - presented out of competition - as well as of works that we appreciate as "queer" (i.e. innovative and non conventional) even just because of their stylistic, formal or political choices.

During the days of SICILIA QUEER FILMFEST numerous events will be organized to frame projections, such as meetings with the directors and the other festival's guests, debates and round table discussions, thought to fulfill the "mission" of this new rich filmweek which will embody in Sicily the idea of a completely other festival.

The aim of our Sicilia Queer filmfest, through film and audiovisuals, is to go against any kind of social discrimination, to support the culture of diversity (sexual orientation, ways of living and thinking, etc.), and to raise a greater awareness of the positive contributions related to the differences.

La NUOVA scadenza per l´iscrizione è fissata per il 26 Aprile 2011.
Compilate il modulo online che trovate sul nostro sito www.siciliaqueerfilmfest.it nell´area dedicata, assolvete a tutte le formalità di iscrizione, e spedite una copia in DVD del Vostro cortometraggio all´indirizzo che trovate indicato. Non dimenticate di stampare, firmare e spedire insieme al dvd il modulo d´iscrizione compilato in ogni sua parte.

Durante le giornate del SICILIA QUEER FILMFEST è inoltre previsto un fitto calendario di proiezioni - fuori concorso - di lungometraggi e documentari a tematica LGBT, nonché di opere "queer", dunque innovative e anticonvenzionali, anche soltanto nelle scelte stilistiche e politiche. Incontri con gli autori, dibattiti e tavole rotonde completeranno l'offerta di questa ricca settimana in cui in Sicilia prenderà finalmente corpo l'altro festival.

L'obiettivo del nostro SiciliaQueer filmfest è quello di esercitare uno sguardo che si propone, attraverso il mezzo audiovisivo, di promuovere il contrasto alla discriminazione sociale, di diffondere la cultura della diversità (di orientamento sessuale, di pensiero, di modi di vivere, ecc.), e una maggiore presa di coscienza dell´apporto positivo legato alle differenze.
